Orgain Chocolate Protein Powder
Why do I buy Vegan protein powder?
A very active sports therapist, unfortunately like many others, I am sensitive to dairy and gluten. I want a protein powder that helps maintain muscle mass and fill daily calories without the bloating and foggy brain effect that whey causes. The main ingredient in this powder is pea protein which I’ve had before in other protein powders recommended to vegetarians. Bodybuilding.com (a reputable fitness site) offers products like Genius Brand Vegan Protein, but that version (which is about $4 more expensive on most sites I’ve seen) I found to be pretty chalky and expensive for the volume.
Similarly, Vega Protein powder has a chalky consistency, but I tried it because it is a popular vegan protein among my friends and colleagues (although it costs up to $10 more, yikes!). I keep convincing them to try Orgain instead and the ones that have, are happy they switched. Better flavor, and you save money? The moms are the quickest to turn, mahahahaha.
How did I find out about it?
Orgain found me at Costco in the vitamin section on a routine run. At that time, I paid $29.99, but I knew 2 lb would last a while so it was worth the try. Glad I did! Turns out it’s even cheaper on Amazon, so I just subscribe to have it sent to me bi-monthly, which is even cheaper! That way, I never run out and don’t have to brave the Costco crowds, AND I save money. A win for my whole family. Above all, I also don’t have to worry about a lapse in my protein intake and muscle recovery.
How did Orgain Chocolate Vegan Protein Powder work for me?
First of all, I LOVE THE TASTE!!! The very first thing that struck me was the creaminess. Mmmm. . Almond milk is my go-to mixer for my proteins and this one is by far the closest tasting to a creamy adult chocolate milk (minus the alcohol lol). There is also a vanilla option which I have tried and is just as good, but I prefer the chocolate fudge. Something nostalgic and taboo about drinking such chocolaty-goodness. I wanted to go back for a second shake after my workout, but that would be indulgent. I may or may not have added a ½ scoop more to the next shake though. Not that it’s a habit now, but you get the point. It’s delish. No chalkiness at all. Even my fiance liked it and he only uses whey protein products.
Almond milk – very smooth and creamy chocolaty consistency.
Water – smooth, chocolaty, blends well but takes longer to shake in shaker bottle than milk.

Did it cause bloating or brain fog?
NOT AT ALL! So very happy to report that this is the best protein powder I have used to date! I feel great when I use it and do feel that it is doing the job at supporting my post-workout recovery by feeding my muscles the nutrients they need. It’s so nice to not have to consequently endure sand mouth every time I need a protein shake just because I’m forced to use dairy alternatives. ugh. We are blessed to live in such an evolutionary time where the products just keep improving thanks to the innovativeness of people in the same position as us sensitives. I’m thankful for the developers of this awesome protein powder! Thank you!
